CII's 2022-2023 Ideation Process
Identifying new research topics is the first and most critical step to generating value for CII members. This year, we designed an ideation process to leverage member input and ultimately create a list of topics that will drive a positive impact on the businesses of our member companies.
We kicked off the process at the CII Annual Conference in August where we offered a whiteboard wall for members to add their ideas. We then expanded to an online Mural where CBAs and CII Committees ultimately submitted more than 300 ideas. You can see a high-level summary of the idea generation effort HERE.
In the CII Board of Advisors (BOA) meeting held in the first week of November, six breakout groups reviewed the 12 topics selected for consideration. The groups were asked to identify opportunities for improvement and/or redirection.
After the breakout sessions, each topic was presented by a member of their respective breakout group and all attendees ranked the 12 topics. The figure below shows the outcome of the ranking vote.
CII intends to address all the topics in the list, but the BOA ranking will guide the priorities as we plan for 2023 and, most importantly, the feedback from the board meeting will allow CII to improve these topics significantly.
We thank the attendees of the BOA meeting for their input and invite all BOA members to engage in future meetings where we define the direction pursued by CII initiatives.
