Keith Churchill
Keith Churchill is chief innovation officer with Bechtel, responsible for supporting that enterprise through the management of various initiatives focused on improving the delivery of projects across the globe. In this role, he is focused on improving innovation and technology for the industry. He looks for ways to cut costs and increase productivity through new and innovative ideas while enhancing safety and quality.
Keith is a seasoned field construction professional with over 16 years of extensive experience in field engineering, issue resolution, construction management, contract management, client relations and construction planning. He has worked extensively along the Gulf Coast on projects ranging from a new large-scale petrochemical facility to heavy civil bridge construction. Keith is familiar with working in and around existing facilities and understands the safety expectations put forth by both Bechtel and its customers, striving to complete every task as safely as possible while ensuring that quality is not compromised.
In 2016, Bechtel approved the construction of a center to promote advancements in welding and advanced technology for the heavy industrial construction sector. The company assigned Keith to lead the design and capabilities of the facility, utilizing subject matter expert input from all areas of the heavy industrial construction sector. The project was successful, and the Bechtel Welding and Applied Technology Center opened in early 2017.
Keith is aware of the construction industry’s need for innovative ways to improve execution on capital projects. A graduate of the CII Executive Leadership Program, whenever he considers a new innovation or technology for the construction industry, Keith relies on the principles, best practices, and vision of CII research to better understand what industry needs now and will want in the future.
Keith is a member and active participant on the CII Technology Committee, and actively participated in Fiatech prior to 2018. Keith was a member of RT-344, Improved Integration of the Supply Chain in Materials Planning and Work Packaging, and he presented that team’s findings at the 2018 CII Annual Conference. More recently, he was a member of RT-393, Understanding the Implications of Environmental, Social, and Governance Criteria on Capital Projects. In addition to his personal contributions, he promotes the participation of Bechtel personnel in CII research teams.
